What is CPV?
Frequently asked
The CPV is a classification system established by Regulation (EC) No 2195/2002 and updated in 2008. It is the standard vocabulary for classifying the subject of public procurement contracts, and CIS Bids uses those codes to group notices.
CPV codes are 8-digit numbers with a check digit. The first 2 digits define the Division, the first 3 digits the Group, the first 4 digits the Class, and the full 8 digits the Category.
A keyword search on this page matches both the code and the code name. You can open a division or a specific code to see the matching CIS notices.
Public buyers use CPV codes to describe what a contract covers. On CIS Bids, those codes are shown on the tender and can be used to open a matching listing.
